These bullet points outline the process of migrating an EMS system from one server to another

Depending on many factors a migration may be as simple as described below, but it can also be more complicated depending on many factors surrounding the old installation, which is why Ellab can offer to do this for you.

** DO NOT DO THIS IF YOU ARE INSECURE ABOUT YOUR OWN TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE **

1. Document existing server
Find all the license IDs
Locate Report Folders
Locate Image Folders
Export Windows System information
Write down IP address
Write down URL address for accessing EMS


2. If there are licenses installed on the old server
Sent an e-mail listing all the licenses you would like to have reactivated to support.hanwell@ellab.com and specify that you would like the licenses reactivated due to server migration
Do this in good time before the migration, so that you have these codes available once you do the installation


3. If you are doing a W900B or W906B installation/migration
You are to skip any actions that have to do with backup or restore of the database


4. Determine if you can move the IP address from the old server to the new server
If that can't be done, you will have to reconfigure your DNS and reprogram all the IceSpy bases


5. Install EMS on the new server
Company name and details does not matter as they will be overwritten
Run EMSConfig - Set Report folder and create cfg file


6. Stop Apache and all EMS services on the old server
7. * Backup EMS databases on old server
8. * Copy database backup to new server
9. * Restore database from old server -and- overwrite EMS database on new server
10. Copy reports and images files to new server
11. If you can move the IP address to the new server
Stop Apache and all EMS services on the new server
Remove the IP address from the old server
Assign IP address to new server
Restart the new server


12. If you can't move the IP address to the new server
Reconfigure your DNS server to point to the new IP address
Reprogram all your IceSpy units to point to the new server IP address


13. Run EMSConfig
Upgrade database
Import models
Add licenses


14. Restart the EMS server
15. If you would like for you web communication to be encrypted, you can add a web certificate to the Apache server
Copy your certificate files to folder 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Ellab Monitoring Solutions Ltd\Apache24\conf'
Modify the file named 'httpd.conf'
Modify the file named 'httpd-ssl.conf'
Restart Apache service
